North County Movie Night in Honor of Victor Laruccia at La Paloma Theatre
To celebrate and commemorate Victor, the extraordinary founder and driving force behind the San Diego Italian Film Festival, we will watch one of his favorite movies, “Mine vaganti” (Loose Cannons). The movie is set in Puglia, where Victor’s family is from, and is a heartwarming comedy about family, business, and identity. As a special treat, you will enjoy a taste of gelato from GelatoLove along with beautiful live music as you enter the theatre.
SDIFF is also celebrating 10 years of partnership with La Paloma Theatre, screening Italian movies for North County audiences. This movie will mark the return to La Paloma of monthly screenings from SDIFF at this historic theater.
This event will also be a fundraiser for the San Diego Italian Film Festival so it can continue its mission to bring not just Italian films, but an Italian perspective to our audiences. Victor’s family as well as the SDIFF board and staff are committed to ensuring the festival’s continued success and sustainability. As part of this effort, Victor’s long-time friends Bob and Carrie Meadow have pledged a dollar-for-dollar match of up to $10,000 in Victor’s memory. With your help, we could raise the much-needed funds that will allow SDIFF to continue to provide the programming our community has come to expect and enjoy.
