March Screenings Cancellation Announcement
Dear Friends of SDIFF,
In our previous communications we had highlighted the importance of our audience’s health and safety above all. The Coronavirus (COVID-19) situation is rapidly changing and calling on us to implement extraordinary measures to support the wellbeing of our community. We now believe it is the time to take actions to mitigate exposure to the virus and have decided to cancel our upcoming March monthly screenings (“Come un gatto in tangenziale” at La Paloma on March12th, and “Figlia Mia” at MOPA on March 19th).
This decision is informed following the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), the California Department of Public Health, and the County of San Diego Health and Human Services Agency advice to avoid crowds and practice social distancing. Unfortunately, Italy’s dramatic situation and what our families and friends are experiencing first hand, serves as a reminder for the need to do anything possible to contain the spreading of the disease now.
Those of you who have purchased tickets to our upcoming screenings can contact us for a refund, get credit towards a future screening, or consider the purchase as a donation to our arts organization.
This was not an easy decision to make which may not be supported by everyone, but we know you will all understand the reasons behind it. Our thoughts today go to Italy and all of the people impacted by COVID-19 worldwide.
Un caro saluto,
Diana Agostini
Executive Director SDIFF
