Review

A classic, one of the most celebrated Italian films of all times, “Cinema Paradiso” by Giuseppe Tornatore tells a story about passion and love for movies and life. In a fictional Sicilian village in postwar Italy, Salvatore finds himself enchanted by the flickering images at the local Cinema Paradiso, yearning for the secret of the cinema’s magic. When the projectionist, Alfredo, agrees to reveal the mysteries of moviemaking, a deep friendship is born. The day comes for Salvatore to leave the village and pursue his dream of making movies of his own. Thirty years later, he receives a message that beckons him back home to a secret discovery. This is a film about memory, of a time when the cinema was a magical place to let our imaginations run free. With an unforgettable score by Ennio Morricone, “Cinema Paradiso” won the Grand Prix at the Cannes Film Festival and the best foreign language film at the Academy Awards and the Golden Globes.

In Italian with English subtitles.
