Erik Gandini lives in Sweden but was born and raised in Italy. Videocracy is a return voyage to his country of origins in order to recount the effects of a television experiment to which Italians have been subject for the last thirty years.  His ability to work his way into powerful spheres of influence and their protagonists reveals an important story about the frightening reality of Italian television, a country in which a person’s transition from showgirl to Minister of Equal Opportunities is more than natural.
