Now in its 11th year, the San Diego Italian Film Festival, a not for profit 501c(3) organization, has quickly made its mark on the local landscape, joining ranks among the most beloved film festivals San Diego has to offer.
Each year we have taken virtual journeys along with our protagonists, experiencing the passion, love, comedy, despair and hope of life. We have learned about Italian film from scholars and directors whose insightful introductions and lectures help us understand why these movies speak to us, and continue to influence filmmaking throughout the world.
But the San Diego Italian Film Festival is about more than just movies. It is about identity, history and a shared appreciation of Italian culture and great cinema– in a word, it is about community. In Italy communities come together in the piazza or town square and the San Diego Italian Film Festival is such a place for a diverse audience of film lovers and those who appreciate Italian culture.
You may have experienced the magic of the piazza at our movies or events such as CineCucina or Dine on the Docks. Events such as these celebrate Italian film and cuisine, making for an evening of pure enchantment. Our annual Gala brings people together in lively Italian style providing guests with great film and food for the senses.
As a fellow film enthusiast, your participation is important to us. SDIFF membership is an invitation to take your place at the piazza, and experience a dazzling array of films, events, people and activities throughout the year. We invite you to join our community of passionate filmgoers by attending our North County and City Series, feStivale and by becoming a member. Your support and participation provides SDIFF critical funding needed to continue bringing a slice of Italy to San Diego through film.
Please join us today and experience the magic of Italian Cinema!
